Ethos

Crafted for people.
Built to last.
Designed with purpose.

Our design manifesto defines who we are and what we stand for. It’s a declaration of our belief that design should enrich the human experience, shaping environments that are beautiful, functional and responsible. Guided by craftsmanship, innovation and integrity, we create furniture that brings people together, stands the test of time, and reflects our enduring commitment to quality and care.

Design Manifesto

We believe that great design should do more than fill a space; it should shape how people feel within it. Every piece we create is born from the pursuit of comfort, beauty and integrity; a belief that furniture should serve both people and planet.

Our manifesto is built on five enduring principles:

Design Integrity
We design with intention. Every curve, seam, and silhouette has purpose, balancing aesthetic appeal with human comfort and lasting performance.

Quality Craftsmanship
Our furniture is made to endure. It’s a celebration of skill, materiality, and the human touch, where modern technology meets time-honored craft.

Sustainable Progress
Responsibility is designed in from the start. From low-carbon materials to circular thinking, we’re redefining what sustainable furniture can be.

Human Experience
We create environments that connect people, spaces that encourage focus, collaboration and wellbeing because the best spaces are built around those who use them.

Global Perspective
As part of the Okamura Group, our vision is global, but our values remain personal. We bring British design excellence to the world stage, united by a shared commitment to detail, quality and care.

We are Driven by Detail, crafting spaces and products that inspire better ways of living.

Designing for a Circular Future

At Boss Design, sustainability and design integrity are one and the same. Every product begins with a clear purpose — to enhance the human experience while minimising environmental impact throughout its life.

We design for longevity through relevance: creating pieces that endure because they remain useful, adaptable and desirable. Every decision, from the form of a chair to the finish of a table, considers its journey — how it’s made, how it’s used, and how it can live on.

Materials are chosen with intent. BioPUR® foam, recycled and recyclable metals, FSC®-certified (FSC® Licence number FSC-C021884) timbers and responsibly sourced textiles form the foundation of our collections. Each material contributes to a reduced carbon footprint, without compromise to comfort, quality or beauty.

Our engineering process is circular by design. Products are built for serviceability, reupholstery and renewal — extending their lifespan and keeping them in active use. Components can be easily separated, repaired or recycled, ensuring resources remain in circulation.

Through Life Cycle Analysis, carbon efficiency labelling and take-back partnerships such as Waste to Wonder, we measure progress and continuously refine how we make.

For Boss Design, true sustainability is not an outcome — it’s the design process itself.

“Beautiful design and sustainable thinking should never compete; they belong together. Our role as designers is to create pieces that feel effortless, timeless, and responsible. Circularity isn’t just about how something is made or reused, it’s about designing with empathy, for people, for materials, and for the future we’re shaping together.”
