Driving Sustainability Forward

Expanding BioPUR® Foam Across the Portfolio

As part of our long-term commitment to reducing environmental impact, we have accelerated the integration of BioPUR® across the North American Collection. Our innovative low-carbon foam alternative is available across our most celebrated seating collections. With the North American market placing increasing importance on sustainability, transparency, and long-term value, we’re doubling down on efforts to provide products that meet the highest standards of performance – with a lighter carbon footprint.

What is BioPUR®?

BioPUR® is our next-generation foam developed to offer the same luxurious comfort and performance as traditional polyurethane (PU), but with up to 75% lower carbon emissions. Free from petrochemicals and made using bio-based content, BioPUR® supports a shift toward circularity, offering improved indoor air quality, reduced environmental impact, and enhanced potential for end-of-life recovery.

From Flagship to Full Portfolio

While BioPUR® made its debut in our new product lines with Uma and Remi, it’s now being retrofitted into a growing number of collections through our continuous improvement model. This approach ensures that even our most established and popular products evolve to reflect new environmental standards and expectations from designers and clients alike.

Why It Matters in the North American Market

Across North America, we’re seeing a clear shift in priorities among designers, specifiers, and corporate clients. Sustainable procurement policies, LEED certification targets, and ESG commitments are driving demand for responsibly made furnishings that don’t compromise on comfort or aesthetics.

At Boss Design, we support these ambitions by:

  • Sustainable product selection without the premium price tag.

  • Offering Environmental Product Declarations and verified Life Cycle Analysis (EPDs & LCAs) for our portfolio.

  • Partnering with Design Conformity to create Carbon Efficiency Labels that factor in product longevity and space efficiency.

  • Enabling end-of-life reuse through our ReNew reupholstery program and take-back schemes.

  • And now, with BioPUR® becoming standard across many of our most loved products, we’re empowering architects and designers to meet their sustainability targets without sacrificing design excellence.

Designed to Last, Designed to Evolve

Every Boss Design product is built with longevity in mind – made to be refurbished, reupholstered, and repurposed. BioPUR® reinforces this vision, giving our customers in North America and around the world a better material choice from the inside out.

We believe that progress doesn’t mean starting from scratch – it means improving what already works, again and again.
