BT within Three Snowhill

Birmingham, Midlands, UK

Few interior fit-out projects demonstrate the importance of flexible and adaptive workspaces in today’s economy better than Boss Design’s recent work at BT’s prestigious new home at the Three Snowhill development in
central Birmingham. This is a project that began just before COVID hit, but even with the uncertainty of the lockdown, Boss Design was agile enough to support BT’s shift to a work-from-home programme on the fly. For example, each employee could have their choice of task chair delivered to
their home.

When lockdown was lifted, the focus shifted again. To encourage employees back to a workplace it needs to be an enticing destination – a great place to work, to collaborate and to feel comfortable. Again, Boss
Design played a key role in delivering on BT’s requirements. Employees using the Mango personal workspaces can feel calm and focused as they
enjoy the elegantly contoured design of the furniture, the privacy they need to concentrate, and striking views across the city.

Collaborative Spaces

Like personal observation decks, the Mango pods formed part of the ‘me space’ defined in the design guide and were complemented by our contemplative Cocoon units and Snug workspaces for task-oriented activities. Meanwhile, meetings and collaboration take place in the ‘we space’ with Boss Design’s modern and minimal Atom tables taking centre stage, supported by beautifully slimline Ola and Paloma seating. The ‘relax and refuel’ areas of the new BT offices are eminently comfortable thanks to Bodie sofas and our relaxed-looking Pause and Wait table designs, with a touch of grandeur injected via our signature Mrs wingback chairs.

Ergonomic excellence

Specified by the architectural design experts at TP Bennett, the scheme was designed to encourage users to migrate between different activities comfortably – just as they would at home. With that in mind, the ‘connect
spaces’ provide airy stop-off points with cultured and contemporary Ola, Paloma and Arty seating. Across the workspace, employees benefit from 3,000 Tauro chairs, which are ergonomically designed for maximum support and comfort. Upholstered in muted grey, they allow the richer tones and textures of the natural wood table finishes to step forward, creating an overall aesthetic that is modern, organic and soothing on the eye. Thanks to furniture Boss Design, BT has found a fitting new home for its key business units, global networks and call centres, creating a calming oasis of enterprise right in the heart of Birmingham.
