WSP Manchester

Manchester, UK

When leading engineering and professional services consultants, WSP, were looking for a new place to call home in the north, Manchester’s up and coming First Street was the answer. Spreading across the first and second floors of the new office building, the move allowed WSP to encompass four existing offices into a single central location in the city.

As part of a larger office scheme, WSP needed to provide private internal meeting and conference call spaces, without creating walled formal meeting rooms. Boss worked closely with dealer Tsunami Axis, interior designers IDAco, and WSP to provide Aspect office pods across the two floors. Aspect pods have an acoustic rating of up to 37dB, designed to give the user optimal privacy and noise control.

Centre stage

Specified with a sophisticated black frame, fluted oak exterior cladding, and power and data provision, Aspect 3 pods take centre stage at the new offices.

Positioned side by side, with internal writable surfaces for brainstorming, the Pods also house an ‘L’ shaped Arthur CityScape configuration to provide the ultimate in comfort and style. Specified with a stunning oak underframe and two-tone grey upholstery, the sofas fit perfectly in the pod and provide plenty of space for internal, more informal meetings. Boss Design Aspect Pods have a UK industry leading acoustic performance of up to 37dB, providing a private acoustic space for meetings, which is ideal in an open plan office.

Private Acoustic Spaces

Showcasing the Aspect 3’s flexibility, more pods around the office were specified back to back and featured a more formal style meeting arrangement, with a TV screen and webcam for conference calls.

Ben Mitchell, Pods Specialist at Boss comments, “This fantastic project really emphasises how important private acoustic spaces are in open plan offices. The introduction of Aspect Pods to the WSP offices have been extremely successful and widely used by employees.”
