Guinness Homes Quayside

Totnes, UK

Boss Design recently collaborated with Devon Interiors to create a bold, beautiful and biophilic inspired interior for Guinness Homes’ latest project in Totnes, South Devon.

The brand new independent living apartment complex, named Quayside, is exclusively available for those over fifty-five; and as well as an idyllic location close the River Dart, it boasts a café, restaurant, various activity areas and a pamper suite.

Exceptional first impression

Using a mix of portfolio products and bespoke pieces specially adapted for elderly residents to encourage their independence, Boss Design provided furniture for the café and dining area, activity and communal lounges, circulation areas, as well as the main reception and entrance space.

Providing an exceptional first impression, Orten and Luge armchairs upholstered in green and grey fabric, complimented by Metro coffee tables and Pause side tables with a European Oak finish, grace Quayside’s reception and main entrance area. Orten and Luge are a sophisticated pairing, both timeless pieces with elegant lines.

Home from Home

Upholstered in luxurious deep earthy tones, Lysander sofas and armchairs make a statement in the communal lounge providing a comfortable space and offering a stylish but subtle aesthetic. Surrounded by complimentary oak Albany coffee tables, muted tones and copper accents, the space truly is a home from home, with a generous amount of seating for residents to socialise.

In the dining space, Boss Design’s elegant Keats chairs, both with and without arms, sit perfectly around square Agent dining tables with a European Oak underframe. As well as Keats, Diana armchairs with oak legs also accompany Agent dining tables. Combined, the ranges provide a sublime dining space, where residents can sit together to enjoy an evening meal.

Elements of nature

Boss Design designed bespoke Banquette seating for both the dining space and café area.  The Banquette seating providing exceptional comfort and was designed with ease of use for the elderly in mind, upholsted in a beautiful green accent colour. Potted plants, fresh flowers, floral scatter cushions and dandelion wall coverings further bring elements of nature inside, whilst keeping the space fresh and light.

In other parts of the café, green and grey Elbow armchairs with oak frames provide a more informal setting for coffee and lunch breaks. Poised around bespoke Agent bistro tables, the furniture provides a timeless and sophisticated setting, ideal for residents and visitors to spend time together.

Ultimate comfort

For the brand-new activity lounge, Diana and Orten arm chairs were chosen to provide ultimate comfort and support whilst users were taking part in group tasks.

Sophie Weeks, Interior Designer at Devon Interiors, comments: “We chose Boss Design furniture for this project due to its ability to adapt existing products to make them suitable for an elderly user. As well as this, we have been impressed by the fantastic quality of Boss Design’s products in previous projects and wanted to bring this high level of quality to Quayside.”

“The commitment of the Guinness Partnership, Devon Interiors and Boss Design drove this to be the triumph that it has become. We don’t doubt that this will be an award-winning scheme in 2018!”
